Terms of Service

Last updated: 23 October 2026

These terms are an agreement between you and Commute (“we”, “us”) about your use of the Commute mobile application and this website. They are written to be read, not just clicked through — the important part fits in one sentence: Commute helps you plan trips using published transit information, but it is an independent app, and the operators’ own announcements always win.

1. Acceptance of these terms

By installing or using Commute, you accept these terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not accept them, please do not use the app. If you use Commute on behalf of someone else, you confirm you have their permission to accept these terms for them.

2. The service

Commute provides public-transport information and tools for the Jabodetabek region of Indonesia, including: departure boards and timetables for KRL Commuter Line, MRT Jakarta, LRT Jabodebek, LRT Jakarta and KA Lokal services; published fare information; a journey planner across rail modes and Transjakarta; an interactive map and offline network diagrams; station guides; nearby-station discovery; train reminders; an AI chat assistant (“Kommy”); a community feed; and a shop section containing affiliate links. Many features work offline using data stored on your device.

We may add, change or remove features over time. The core promise stays: schedules, fares and the journey planner remain free.

3. Accounts

Most of Commute needs no account. An account is required only for the community and Commute Premium. You are responsible for keeping your sign-in credentials safe and for activity under your account. Tell us promptly at support@commute.app if you believe your account has been compromised. You may delete your account at any time from the app’s settings.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use Commute for any unlawful purpose, or to harass, threaten or harm others.
  • Post content that is illegal, defamatory, hateful, sexually explicit, spam, or that infringes someone else’s rights.
  • Impersonate another person, a transport operator, or Commute itself.
  • Attempt to disrupt the service — including scraping at abusive rates, probing for vulnerabilities, or interfering with other users’ access.
  • Misrepresent Commute’s information as official operator information.

We may moderate content, and suspend or terminate accounts that break these rules.

5. Your content and the community

You keep ownership of the posts and comments you create. By posting in the community, you grant us a worldwide, royalty-free licence to store, display and distribute that content within Commute for as long as it remains posted, so the community can function. You are responsible for your content; post only what you have the right to share. If you delete a post or your account, the licence for that content ends, except for copies already shared by other users within the app.

Community content reflects the views of riders, not of Commute or any operator. Treat travel tips from the community as friendly advice, not official guidance.

6. AI assistant disclaimer

Kommy, the AI assistant, generates answers automatically. Its replies can be incomplete, outdated or simply wrong. Treat them as a helpful first draft: for anything that matters — the last train home, a connection you cannot miss — verify against the departure board in the app or the operator’s own channels before you rely on it.

7. Schedules, fares and accuracy

Commute presents timetables and fares compiled from the operators’ published sources. That means:

  • Times are scheduled times, not real-time. Commute does not track live train positions. Delays, cancellations and platform changes happen, and operators may change schedules or fares at any time without notice.
  • Always confirm before a critical trip. The operator’s station displays and official announcements override anything shown in Commute.
  • Estimates are estimates. Where Commute calculates or approximates something — a walking time, a fare marked as estimated — it is provided for guidance only.

Commute is an independent app. It is not created by, affiliated with, or endorsed by KAI Commuter, MRT Jakarta, LRT Jakarta, LRT Jabodebek, Transjakarta, KCIC or any other transport operator. Operator names, line names and marks belong to their respective owners and are used only to identify the services the app describes.

8. Commute Premium and billing

Commute Premium is an optional subscription sold through Google Play. Prices, trial terms and renewal terms are shown by Google Play at purchase. Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled in your Google Play subscription settings before the renewal date; cancelling stops future renewals and Premium continues until the end of the paid period. Refunds are handled under Google Play’s refund policies. Your entitlement is managed with the help of RevenueCat, as described in the Privacy Policy.

9. Affiliate links

The shop section contains affiliate links to third-party stores (such as Shopee). If you buy through one of these links, we may earn a commission — at no additional cost to you. The price you pay is set by the store, and your purchase is a transaction between you and that store, governed by its own terms.

10. Intellectual property

The Commute app, its design system, brand, code and original content belong to us or our licensors and are protected by applicable law. These terms give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the app for your own travel; they do not transfer any ownership. Timetable and fare facts themselves are the operators’ published information.

11. Third-party services

Commute relies on third-party services — including Firebase and other Google services, RevenueCat, CARTO basemaps, Google AdMob and affiliate partners. Those services are governed by their own terms and policies, and we are not responsible for their content or availability. Links that open external apps or websites take you outside these terms.

12. Availability and changes

We work to keep Commute available and accurate, but the service is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. Features may be interrupted, changed or withdrawn — for maintenance, because a data source changed, or because a feature didn’t work out. Offline data already on your device will keep working with the version you have.

13. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from your use of Commute — including missed trains or connections, missed appointments, or decisions made in reliance on schedule, fare or AI assistant information. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited. Your statutory consumer rights are unaffected.

14. Termination

You may stop using Commute at any time, and delete your account from the app’s settings. We may suspend or terminate access if these terms are breached, or if we discontinue the service. The sections on content, intellectual property, liability and governing law survive termination.

15. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Indonesia. Disputes will first be discussed in good faith; if they cannot be resolved informally, they will be settled by the competent courts of Indonesia.

16. Changes to these terms

When these terms change materially, we will update the date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, tell you in the app. Continuing to use Commute after a change takes effect means you accept the updated terms.

17. Contact

Questions about these terms are welcome at support@commute.app.
